Capturing Unity Live: A Day Behind the Lens with Santander UK
In the realm of household names, Santander stands tall as a beacon of financial prowess. Known for its commitment to excellence, the institution recently held an extraordinary event, marking its transition to a new headquarters in Milton Keynes. The occasion, aptly named Unity Live, showcased not only the bank's new headquaters Unity Place, but also its dedication to the well-being among its staff. Unity Live was a week-long extravaganza offering a diverse array of activities. From yoga and aikido to cocktail and painting classes, the event encapsulated the spirit of celebration and unity!
The Brief
Armed with a comprehensive brief, my task was to encapsulate the vibrancy of Unity Live. Candid shots of participants immersed in various activities, posed group shots at key exhibits, and capturing the leadership team in action were among the many elements I needed to cover. Networking scenes, free smoothie enjoyment, and wide-angle shots for impact were essential components, not to mention specific shots of the Ferrari expo, Santander Cycles exhibit, and the graffiti wall.
My Approach
Leveraging my background in corporate photography, I thoroughly enjoyed navigating the event. Candid moments, an area in which my expertise shines, came naturally, while my experience allowed me to orchestrate large group shots. The yoga studio presented an opportunity to infuse creativity, playing with silhouettes to capture the essence of the moment. The balance between professionalism and creativity ensured that the images conveyed not just the event but the spirit of Unity Live itself.
What I took away
Among the many moments captured, one stood out – the spontaneous address by Santander's CEO Mike Regnier to a crowd of a thousand staff members. Witnessing this unscripted moment was a highlight, emphasizing the genuine commitment of the leadership to the unity and well-being of the Santander team.
Unity Live at Santander UK was brilliant, showcasing unity, diversity, and corporate awesomeness that other big players should take note of. In a corporate world often missing the human touch, Santander's commitment to their employees' well-being stands out. I'm hoping more companies get on board, creating positive workplace cultures and boosting their image. I'm itching to shoot more and if Santander throws another event, count me in for capturing more moments of corporate fun and unity!
